Volunteers Needed to Assist the TPWD with Vegetative Planting.
SJRA and the CSH Inland Fisheries team are planning a large scale planting day for native vegetation on Lake Conroe on August 3rd. There have been some single-boat planting efforts already this summer, with SJRA doing the bulk of the work, but we’d like to plan a day where we can invite volunteers out to cover a lot of shoreline quickly and to give everyone the chance to help.
Date: August 3rd, 2021, (weather back-up-date will be the following week)
Goal: Increase native vegetation coverage in the upper end of Lake Conroe to create fish habitat
RSVP: Please email Alice Best at [email protected] if you would like to help and to receive details and updates.
Details: Details are still forming. We (TPWD) are currently conducting this summer’s vegetation survey. We will use the findings from that to choose planting sites and will choose a meeting and launch location based on those planting areas. We would like to focus on undeveloped coves and protected shoreline on the eastern side of the lake in national forest land where we did not see as many natives last year.
I hope the summer is treating all of you well and thank you for your help in improving fishery!
