Summary of the February 9th meeting of the Lake Conroe Habitat Partnership
To recap what was decided: Considering that the last grass carp stocking occurred in December 2024, the increase we saw in both hydrilla and native submerged vegetation from 2024 to 2025, the mild winter we’ve had so far, and the projections of us having another warm summer, 1,200 triploid grass carp will be stocked into the lake asap – 800 at Scott’s Ridge and 400 at Cagle Recreation Area to ensure adequate dispersal. A 2:1 ratio was decided based on the hydrilla coverage at each area – roughly 2/3 of the hydrilla acreage is in the Caney Creek arm, with the remaining 1/3 split between the islands across from Cagle/south of FM 1375, and “the jungle” below Stubblefield/FM 215.
